Jennings achieves another success in sports

Jennings International College, Nainamadama recently held its annual Inter-House Sports Meet at the Jennings Grounds with a colourful opening ceremony.

Mr Melvil Samaranayake, Chairman, Jennings International College who attended as the Guest of Honour ceremonially opened the Sports Meet by hoisting the national flag at the Jennings grounds.  Principal, Mr. Wijesiri Hettiarachchi and Athletic Coach, Mr. Emmanuel Fernando joined in the opening ceremony by hoisting the college flag and sports flag respectively. House Masters, Mr. K. D. D. A. Chandralal, Mr. S. A. Rajiv and Mr. N. Niranjan hoisted the house flags simultaneously.

Major Keerthi Priyankara RSP, Director of Sports, Zonal Education Office, Chilaw who attended as the Chief Guest addressed the gathering at the closing ceremony after distribution of awards. The Principal delivered the welcome speech and extended his respect and gratitude to the Chief Guest, Major Keerthi Priyankara RSP for gracing the occasion. On behalf of the Chairman and the Board of Directors and on behalf of the academic and non-academic staff he conveyed his appreciation, to the parents of the students for their active participation in the college activities. He said that Inter-House Sports Meet reflected the pride that Jennings International College takes in its commitment to improve the sporting skills of its students and to prepare them to meet the future challenges.

This year Maroon House won the over-all Championship followed by Blue House and Yellow House respectively.

Further, the successful athletes who won awards in the Inter-House Sports Meet were nominated to participate at the Circuit Meet which was held on 7th, 8th & 9th March 2018 at   Anuruddha Maha Vidyalaya, Lunuwila. It is heartening to say that in the Circuit Meet 2018, Jennings International College won three Individual Championships, Junior Boy’s Championship, Runners up in Junior Girls Championship including 12 Gold Medals.
