Jennings Commemorates Mother Mary’s Festival and College Day – 2019

Jennings International College on 4th June 2019, commemorated the   Mother Mary’s Day and College Day with a Holy Mass celebrated by Rev Fr. Lanci Navin, Franciscan Capuchin Priest of Padre  Pio  Nivesa,  Pallansena,  Kochchikade, at the college premises.

The statue of Mother Mary was brought from the college chapel to the open stage by   Directress,   Mrs.Sriyanga Samaranayake along with the Principal, Staff, Prefects and the children of the Kindergarten. At the end of the Holy Mass, Rev. Fr. Lanci blessed the college staff and students with the statue of Holy Mother.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Mr Justin Laus, Senior Teacher in the   English Department, appreciated the services extended by Rev. Fr. Lanci Navin. He also thanked the Chairman,  Mr.Melvil Samaranayake and the Directors for their co-operation in organizing the celebrations.  He, however, informed the students and the staff that taking into consideration of the present situation in the country, Principal and the Board of Directors have decided not to have college parties in connection with the College Day celebrations and instead college will continue with teaching according to the time tables of the day.

Accordingly, in view of the recent terrorist attacks in the country, Jennings International College limited its celebrations of the “College Day” only to a Holy Mass.

College used to celebrate the college day and Mother Mary’s Festival together with a Holy Mass and the procession of the statue of  Mother Mary followed by the class parties. This year, the college has decided to limit the celebrations only to religious activities and to pray for the victims of the recent terrorist attacks in the country.

My Dear Children

I trust you all had a safe and quiet vacation.

It is likely that this vacation will be further extended due to the prevailing situation in the country.

I, therefore, in consultation with your teachers and the college management, decided to help with your studies by sending your lessons through mobile phones of your parents.

Your class teachers will take the necessary action to send you the lessons. Please inform your parents to contact your class teacher and obtain details of this program.

Thank you and May God Bless You!
